Our Story
A family, a farm, and a refusal to settle
Homestead Whittington Farm started with a simple question: what if we took our food supply into our own hands and actually knew where everything came from?
We are a family in Brookhaven, Mississippi who decided to take our food supply into our own hands.
It started with chickens. We wanted to feed our family real chicken — birds raised on grass, in sunlight, eating what chickens are supposed to eat. Not the pale, flavorless product from industrial farms that gets labeled "natural" because the word means nothing on a food package.
So we built chicken tractors. Started raising Cornish Cross on pasture. Moved them to fresh ground every day. Fed them non-GMO supplemental feed. And the difference was immediate — in taste, in texture, in knowing exactly what we were eating and where it came from.
Then we started looking at everything else in our kitchen. The honey that might be cut with corn syrup. The flour that has been bleached and bromated. The lotions full of ingredients we cannot pronounce. The plastic wraps shedding microparticles onto our food.
One by one, we found better alternatives. Talked to small-batch producers. Tested products ourselves. Replaced the grocery store versions with things that actually deserve to be in our home.
This store is everything we found along the way.
Every product here is something we use on our own farm, feed to our own family, or trust enough to put our name on. If we would not buy it, we do not sell it. That is not a marketing slogan — it is the only rule we have.
What we believe
Know your food
You should know where your food comes from, how it was raised, and what is in it. If a company will not tell you, that tells you everything.
Nutrient-dense, not convenient
The food industry optimizes for shelf life and profit. We optimize for nutrition and integrity. Those goals do not overlap.
The old ways work
Cast iron instead of non-stick. Beeswax instead of plastic. Tallow instead of petroleum. Sometimes progress means going backwards.
We sell what we use
Every single product in this store is something we have personally used, tested, and approved for our own family. No exceptions.
Community over commerce
We are building something bigger than a store. This is a community of people who believe food should be real, tools should last, and families deserve better.
Honest about everything
Affiliate products are clearly marked. Prices are transparent. We tell you when chickens are sold out instead of overselling. Trust is earned by telling the truth.
